INCISE ThermoShield textured exterior walls at an East African savannah lodge
INCISE / THERMOSHIELD TPC / THERMAL COMFORT & SURFACE PROTECTION

Made for life under the sun.

Heat control. Water repellency. Flexible protection. INCISE ThermoShield TPC is a ready-to-use, highly reflective thermoplastic coating that helps reduce surface heat absorption, keeps rainwater off treated surfaces and bridges hairline cracks in mortar and plastered walls. For walls, roofs and thatch, it brings protection into the building’s finish.

The material

Keep the sunshine. Rethink the heat.

A lodge looking out across the savannah. A home under the afternoon sun. A classroom that works through the hottest part of the day. ThermoShield brings heat-reflective performance into the building’s protective finish, helping manage the heat absorbed by exposed surfaces.

Its water-based thermoplastic acrylic coating forms a flexible, water-repellent film with a textured matt appearance. Mica and silica reinforce the finish, while UV-stable pigments bring colour and architectural character. Use ThermoShield to protect suitable wall and roof surfaces, including roof tiles and thatch, with preparation and application selected for each material.

THERMAL COMFORT / UV & WEATHER PROTECTION

Keep the water out of the picture.

From sun-exposed roof tiles to a lodge’s thatched roof, ThermoShield adds a protective layer with high water repellency and resistance. It helps shed rainwater while its reflective properties support heat control under strong sunshine.

On mortar and plastered walls, the flexible film bridges fine hairline cracks, helping protect these vulnerable points against water entry. For roofs, thatch and other surfaces, select the preparation, primer and coating build-up for the substrate and exposure.

Open. Stir. Apply with care.

Supplied ready to use, ThermoShield fits a straightforward brush or roller application process. The result starts with sound preparation and the specified coat coverage.

01

Prepare & prime

Assess the wall or roof material and prepare a clean, dry, sound surface. Remove loose material and contamination. Repair major defects, detail roof joints and penetrations appropriately, and select the primer or basecoat for the substrate. Hairline crack bridging does not replace structural crack repairs.

02

Apply two coats

Stir thoroughly and apply two even coats using a brush, sponge roller or lamb’s wool roller. Avoid over-spreading. The datasheet gives a typical recoat time of 4–6 hours, depending on conditions.

03

Allow to cure

Apply between 10°C and 35°C and avoid application during rain or when rain is expected within 24 hours. Allow the coating to cure; the typical full-cure period is seven days.

Colour & texture

Colour for the landscape you live in.

Warm whites and desert neutrals. Architectural greys, earthy terracotta and Savannah Green. Ten standard ThermoShield shades give buildings a considered place in their surroundings, with custom project colours available on request.

Choose for the architecture and the exposure together. Discuss the heat-reflective performance of the selected shade with the technical team, then confirm its colour and textured appearance on a physical sample.

The INCISE difference

A protective finish. A more considered building.

ThermoShield brings colour, flexible protection and heat-reflective performance into the same architectural layer. From a sun-exposed roof and thatched lodge to a sheltered interior, INCISE helps you choose the shade, preparation and application system for the way the building will be used.

Questions worth asking

Before you choose your protective finish.

What is INCISE ThermoShield TPC?

ThermoShield TPC is a ready-to-use, water-based thermoplastic acrylic coating for suitable walls, ceilings and roof surfaces. It combines reflective heat control, high water repellency and resistance, UV protection and a flexible film that can bridge hairline cracks in mortar and plaster.

How does it support thermal comfort?

ThermoShield helps reduce surface heat absorption through its heat-reflective properties. Its contribution to indoor comfort depends on the selected shade, substrate, application and whole building, including roof insulation, shading and ventilation. Confirm project-specific performance with the technical team.

Is it a fireproof coating?

No. ThermoShield is not specified here as a fireproof or fire-rated coating. It is specified here for heat-reflective surface protection and weather resistance.

Can it be used on roof tiles or thatch?

Yes. ThermoShield can be used to protect suitable roof tiles and thatched roofs, with the preparation, primer or basecoat, coating build-up and application method selected for the material. Discuss roof condition, drainage, joints and details with INCISE before application.

How is ThermoShield applied?

Prepare a clean, dry and sound surface, prime highly porous areas as specified, stir the ready-to-use coating and apply two even coats with a brush or suitable roller. Follow the datasheet for coverage, recoat time, curing and weather conditions.

Can ThermoShield repair hairline cracks?

Its flexible film can bridge hairline cracks in mortar and plastered walls. The supplied datasheet states up to 0.5 mm for hairline cracks. Larger, moving or structural cracks need appropriate repair before coating. ThermoShield is ready to use, available in ten standard colours and supplied in 5 L and 20 L packs.
